If you’re already to try (risk) your blog and be an early adopter, head over to the WordPress 2.7 Beta staging ground and download your copy! I’ll skip and wait for the late November release.
A quick overview of the major changes of the 2.7 beta from freshmeat.net:
WordPress 2.7 has a newly redesigned administrative interface, the result of much user feedback and testing. New features include a built-in WP core upgrade function, plugin directory browser/installer, the ability for child themes to override individual template files, sticky posts, improved comment management, and much more.
Sad news for Senator Barack Obama… Just before the elections… Be strong Sen. Obama! I’m Voting for you! (In spirit! Nyek!)
From Associated Press
HONOLULU (AP) — Barack Obama’s grandmother, whose personality and bearing shaped much of the life of the Democratic presidential contender, has died, Obama announced Monday, one day before the election. Madelyn Payne Dunham was 86.
Obama announced the news from the campaign trail in Charlotte, N.C. The joint statement with his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng said Dunham died late Sunday night after a battle with cancer.
“She’s gone home,” Obama said as tens of thousands of rowdy supporters at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte grew silent in an evening drizzle.
“And she died peacefully in her sleep with my sister at her side. And so there is great joy as well as tears. I’m not going to talk about it too long because it is hard for me to talk about.”

I quickly queried Mr. Google with the following keywords: wordpress 2.7 wireframe and started my quest to quickly fill my brain with as many facts before it’s attention wanders off yet again in search for prettier pictures…

Itching to test the new WordPress 2.7? Willing to be an early adopter of the almost-beta 2.7? No problem! I’ve just uploaded the latest nightly build of WordPress 2.7 almost-beta and created a sub-domain for everyone to play with!
To start playing with the site, I encourage everyone to register and start posting! New users are set to the Author User Role to encourage posting and to give testers a glimpse of the almost beta interface and flow.
The site and interface might turn you off at first, but remember this is a nightly build and isn’t even considered beta yet.
A quick reminder though, please don’t upload resource intensive media or super long posts as I am currently hosting the site on my (very limited) hosting account.

If you want to take an even more active role in WordPress testing, I sugest that you join the Wp-Testers Mailing lIst. Once registered with the mailing list, you’ll get regular mail with the latest fixes and additions to the WordPress builds as well as link for the nightly build itself.
