Auckland Airport retires Strata Club, mobile app

Auckland Airport is closing its Strata Club loyalty programme and retiring its mobile app, consolidating digital services onto its website by the end of 2026. The programme will stop earning points on 30 September, with redemptions available until 30 November, and existing member accounts converting to standard AKL logins from 1 December.

Timeline for the Strata Club closure

The closure takes effect at 23:59 on 30 November 2026. According to the airport’s published transition guidance, customers can continue earning Strata points and moving between membership tiers through 30 September. From October through November, members can still redeem eligible points and access tier benefits, but no new points will accumulate and tier status will freeze. After the programme closes, existing Strata login credentials will automatically become AKL accounts for use on the airport’s website.

The airport’s international departures Strata Lounge will remain open. Auckland Airport has clarified that the lounge operates independently from the loyalty programme, and its continuation is unaffected by the Strata Club shutdown.

What the mobile app retirement means for travellers

The Auckland Airport app currently combines practical airport information with Strata Club features, including a digital membership card. Once retired, services like parking bookings and flight information will shift entirely to the airport’s mobile-friendly website.

Scott Tasker, Auckland Airport’s chief customer officer, said the airport has spent the past year improving its website and making information easier to find on mobile devices. The decision to retire the app is intended to remove duplication by concentrating services in one digital channel.

For travellers who primarily use the app to book parking or check airport information, the practical change is one of access point rather than service removal. Parking will continue to be bookable online, and the airport says customers will receive reminders and support during the transition.

Redeeming rewards before the programme closes

Strata Club rewards members for spending with participating airport retailers and restaurants as well as for services such as parking. The programme also offers tier-based benefits and uses the app as the main way to display a digital membership card and track balances.

Under the closure timetable, earning points and tier changes stop on 30 September. Members then have until 30 November to redeem remaining eligible points and benefits. Points can currently be used toward airport parking, participating retail purchases and Strata Lounge bookings, subject to programme rules.

From 1 December, existing Strata Club login details will automatically transition to an AKL login. Auckland Airport says the replacement account will allow customers to manage and book parking using saved profile information and retain access to saved wish lists and order history associated with The Mall.

Customer support will remain available throughout the wind-down for questions about accounts, points and the digital transition. The overall shift marks a move away from maintaining both an app and a website for overlapping services, with the airport choosing the website as its main digital platform from December onward.
