The Datai Pledge has released its sixth annual Impact Report, offering a detailed look at how The Datai Langkawi is measuring sustainability, conservation, and community work across one of Malaysia’s most distinctive natural settings.

The latest report is built around the theme Stories + Numbers, reflecting the idea that sustainability depends on both measurable progress and the individual people, communities, and ecosystems behind each result.

According to details released by The Datai Pledge, the report captures the work of The Datai Langkawi’s sustainability and conservation programme across four pillars: Wildlife For The Future, Fish For The Future, Youth For The Future, and Pure For The Future.

The 2025 results show a programme that is increasingly focused on practical outcomes, with 10,107 participants in its nature walks and conservation talks, and MYR 700,000 raised for The Datai Pledge projects.

The resort also diverted 100% of solid waste from landfill for 281 days, and recorded an 8% reduction in energy intensity compared with 2024.

The Datai Pledge was established in 2020 on the belief that travel can be transformative not only for guests but also for the host community.

Six years later, its latest report shows how that idea is being applied through biodiversity protection, waste reduction, local education, community enterprise, and marine conservation.

Arnaud Girodon, Chief Executive Officer of Datai Hotels and Resorts, said the report demonstrates measurable progress while also recognising the individual stories behind the numbers.

The Fish For The Future pillar focuses on the waters around Datai Bay and the wider marine environment, working with partners including MareCet, Malaysia’s marine mammal conservation NGO.

For travellers, The Datai Pledge shows how a resort stay can be connected to conservation and community work.

At The Datai Langkawi, efforts are being counted, and just as importantly, they are being connected to the people and places that give the numbers meaning.

The strongest message of the sixth Impact Report is that positive change is rarely the result of a single action, but built through many small efforts.

Oil collected, waste diverted, students taught, trees planted, species monitored, farmers supported, and stories shared all contribute to a larger impact.
