New York City spots star in new film

The movie One Night Only is set in New York City, where premarital sex is only legal for one night out of the year, and condoms are mandatory. The film follows Allie, a single musician, and Owen, a charming pizza shop proprietor, as they make their way through the city in one wild night.
Director Will Gluck, a born-and-bred New Yorker, was excited to take on this project, using as much of the city as possible, particularly locations from his childhood. Gluck’s mission was to make the characters’ movements and transit choices plausible, saying “I was very concerned with geography, I’m really a stickler that it has to make sense.”
Claremont’s Pizza, Owen’s place of work, is featured throughout the film, with scenes filmed at The Original Ray’s Pizza on 82nd and Columbus Ave. Gluck grew up near Columbia University on Claremont Avenue and decided to use his childhood street name as the namesake of Owen’s pizzeria.

Owen spends time at his mother’s gorgeous Hamilton Heights apartment, which was filmed at a brownstone not far from Alexander Hamilton’s former home. The search for a condom continues in the Heights, with Owen visiting an urgent care clinic, actually a veterinarian’s office, and a pharmacy, which is the one frequented by Gluck’s parents.
Much of the film takes place in Lower Manhattan, a hotbed of nightlife, where young people might go looking for a one-night stand.
As the night unfolds, the characters’ experiences become increasingly intertwined, with each encounter leading to unexpected consequences. The city itself is a place where chance meetings and unexpected events are a regular occurrence.
The film’s use of real New York City locations adds to its charm, making the characters’ experiences feel more authentic and immersive. By showcasing the city’s neighborhoods, One Night Only provides a unique perspective on the urban experience.
