Tamarind, Barbados, an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort, has officially reopened on the island’s Platinum West Coast. The property returned to service following an extensive redesign that marked the final step in a major overhaul. With this reopening, the Barbados Collection has completed a two-year renovation effort involving seven distinct resorts. The project was described as a multi-million-dollar investment in the local hospitality infrastructure.

A New Look for the West Coast

The resort now features 111 refreshed guestrooms and suites. Designers drew inspiration from the ocean and natural terrain for the interior aesthetic. Public spaces have also been enhanced to accommodate more guests comfortably. New culinary venues have been added to the existing dining options.

Dining choices include breakfast at Sugar Cane Restaurant and artisanal coffee at Harvest & Hive. Guests can also eat local and international dishes at 246 Bar & Restaurant or casual seaside fare at Sugar Shack. A notable addition is the Caribbean Restaurant, which is billed as the island’s first air-conditioned venue dedicated strictly to authentic Barbadian cuisine.

Families have long been a primary demographic for this property. The new CAMP Club offers an indoor-outdoor space created in partnership with CAMP and Marriott Bonvoy. It provides hands-on activities inspired by Barbados, including local arts, crafts, music, and storytelling. This setup aims to keep younger guests engaged while parents relax.

Portfolio Evolution and Branding

Gastón Gonzalez, regional vice president for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Mexico, called the reopening a meaningful moment. “The reopening of Tamarind is an incredibly meaningful moment for Marriott International, our team, and for the future of hospitality in Barbados,” he said. He noted that the company has undertaken an ambitious vision to completely reimagine its portfolio across the island over the past several years.

This move completes a broader transformation of the brand’s presence in the region. The renovation converted Waves Resort & Spa, Treasure Beach, The House, and now Tamarind into Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resorts. Crystal Cove and Turtle Beach were introduced as Tribute Portfolio All-Inclusive Resorts, while Colony Club returned as Barbados’ first property under The Luxury Collection.

The strategy reflects a shift toward distinct lifestyle branding rather than a uniform corporate identity. By splitting the portfolio into Autograph, Tribute, and Luxury Collection properties, the operator allows each resort to maintain a unique character. This approach helps differentiate the offerings in a crowded luxury market. It also targets specific traveler segments who prefer boutique experiences over standardized chains.

Tamarind anchors the collection’s “Lifestyle Stretch” of West Coast experiences. It sits alongside The House and Treasure Beach, a grouping enhanced by the debut of the Sandtrap Beach Club. The resort also features two indoor event spaces and outdoor venues that can accommodate up to 400 guests. This capacity positions the property for destination weddings and group business, adding a new revenue stream beyond leisure travel.

Connecting the Properties

Guests can now dine across participating sister properties through the collection’s Dine Around Program. This integration allows visitors to sample food at different locations without leaving the brand ecosystem. The resort is fully operational and ready for bookings.
