Mandarin Oriental Geneva Names Wildhaber General Manager
Christian Wildhaber appointed General Manager at Mandarin Oriental Geneva luxury hotel.

Mandarin Oriental, Geneva has named Christian Wildhaber as its new General Manager, with the appointment taking effect on 1 September 2026. Wildhaber brings nearly three decades of luxury hospitality experience to the five-star Swiss property, according to an announcement from the hotel group.
He joins from Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta, where he has served as General Manager since August 2025. A native of Vevey, Switzerland, Wildhaber is fluent in French, English and German — a skill set the hotel expects to serve its cosmopolitan clientele well.
A Career Built Across Three Continents
His hospitality career has spanned Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region, with senior roles in the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Sydney and Guangzhou. Along the way, he developed expertise in hotel operations, property openings, repositioning projects and the transformation of prestigious properties.

Before his post in Jakarta, Wildhaber served as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern. In that role, he led the hotel’s transformation, opening and launch, helping establish it as one of Switzerland’s leading luxury hotels. That track record of turning properties around is likely part of what drew the Geneva hotel to him.
The move also represents something of a homecoming. Wildhaber said he is pleased to return to Switzerland and join the team at Mandarin Oriental, Geneva, noting that International Geneva brings together people, cultures and ideas from around the world. He looks forward to working with colleagues to uphold the hotel’s legacy of excellence and create exceptional guest experiences.
For a hotel that positions itself as one of Geneva’s premier luxury addresses, the choice of a manager with deep Swiss roots and international experience matters. The city’s hotel scene serves a mix of diplomats, business travelers and affluent tourists, and the expectations are high.

Having someone who understands both the local market and the global luxury standards of the Mandarin Oriental brand could help the property maintain its standing in a competitive environment. Mandarin Oriental, Geneva said Wildhaber’s international career, collaborative leadership style and commitment to operational excellence will further strengthen the hotel’s position.
The property overlooks the Rhône river and sits within walking distance of the Lake, Jet d’Eau and St. Peter’s Cathedral. The hotel features 178 rooms and suites designed with a contemporary style inspired by nature, mountains and water. Its restaurants and bar have made a significant contribution to Geneva’s dining scene, and the wellness facilities offer Swiss expertise to guests looking to unwind.
Wildhaber’s appointment comes at a time when luxury hotels across Switzerland are competing for both international visitors and domestic travelers. His experience with property transformations in Luzern and Jakarta gives him a background that spans different markets and guest expectations. The Geneva hotel will be watching closely to see how that experience translates into results on the ground.
