Vrbo expands paid visibility flexible pricing through Expedia
Vrbo expands paid visibility with global Sponsored Listings & flexible pricing, thanks to Expedia’s latest update.

Expedia Group has rolled out a full update for Vrbo hosts, introducing 12 new products. These include global availability of Vrbo Sponsored Listings, flexible pricing options, and broader distribution through Expedia packages. The update, which began on September 1, is the largest combined product release for Vrbo and Escapia, with more features planned by 2027.
Vrbo’s New Advertising Product: Sponsored Listings
Vrbo Sponsored Listings is now available globally after a successful pilot involving several operators. This pay-per-booked-night advertising model allows partners to bid for premium placement in relevant search results. The minimum bid is set at $5 per booked night, with campaigns managed through the Expedia Group Advertising platform. Early results from the pilot showed a significant increase in bookings, revenue, and booked nights for participants.

Expedia Group positions this tool as a way to fill calendar gaps rather than a typical brand-advertising product. However, it’s worth noting that these performance figures are company-reported results and may not reflect independently audited market benchmarks.
New Pricing Tools to Target Last-Minute and Deal-Driven Bookings
Vrbo is expanding pricing options for partners, starting with Same-Day Bookings. This feature enables eligible properties to accept reservations within 24 hours of arrival when booked before noon on the day of stay. Limited Time Offers and non-refundable rates are also planned, aligning with Expedia Group’s research on vacation-rental travelers’ booking behaviors.
Expedia Group’s 2026 Built to Stay study, conducted across seven markets, found that 91% of vacation-rental travelers were influenced by promotions when booking. The same research indicates that guests now balance price with trust signals and listing quality rather than simply choosing the cheapest option.

Broader Distribution: Vrbo Listings in Expedia Packages
Another significant distribution change is the planned addition of Vrbo listings to Expedia packages. Once live, eligible vacation rentals will be bookable alongside flight and car rental components, opening Vrbo inventory to travelers who prefer one-stop trip transactions. This builds on Expedia Group’s existing distribution model, which already promotes Vrbo inventory across its own brands and a network of business partners.
Automation and Payment Tools to Reduce Operational Friction
The update also includes enhancements for guests and hosts. A centralized Welcome Guide provides guests with essential information before arrival, while hosts can see if access details have been delivered. New inbox templates can be scheduled automatically around booking milestones or specific times, with property information tags drawing directly from the Welcome Guide.
Vrbo has added two more flexible cancellation settings, and Escapia has released a redesigned Reservation Grid, replacing one of its most frequently used interfaces with a more visual calendar workspace. Vrbo Payments is also in pilot, combining payment processing with fraud and chargeback support.

Expedia Group Vice President of Vacation Rental Partnerships Tim Rosolio described the rollout as an investment across multiple parts of the vacation-rental business. Joel Schoen, general manager of Escapia, said the software business is being developed around a more intuitive and connected operating model for professional managers.
Vacation-rental operators must now assess which tools increase bookings and how added advertising costs, cancellation flexibility, and broader distribution affect net revenue. The direction is clear: Expedia Group is integrating Vrbo’s demand-generation capabilities more closely with the pricing, payments, and property-management systems used by professional hosts.
